Lecture – Mrs. Goodfellow, The Story of America’s First Cooking School
Saturday, May 18, 2013
2 pm
In Philadelphia during the first decades of the 19th century, a widow, Mrs. Goodfellow, ran a popular bakery and sweet shop. In addition to catering to Philadelphia's wealthy families, her business stood out because she ran a small school to teach the art of cooking, the first of its kind in America. Mrs. Goodfellow did not keep a journal and never published any of her recipes so we have to rely on her students, most notably Eliza Leslie, publiser of the Victorian era's most popular cookbooks. Don't miss this opportunity. Click here for reservations or call 215-438-1861. Visa and MasterCard accepted.
